"In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph."

It's official.

MY LIFE 2 MONTHS FROM NOW! The joy!!

"ALL YOU PEOPLE CAN'T YOU SEE, CAN'T YOU SEE....NKOTBSB"

I was a blessed girl this past week...a very generous donor gave us tickets to go to the NKOTBSB concert here in Phoenix. Judge all you want...it was very fun. Yes, almost eveyone in the New Kids is 40+, and BSB is like, at least 30? And yes, it was weird seeing grown men in shutter shades/studded vests, dancing like they were 18 (NKOTB did their original dance when they sang "You Got It--the Right Stuff"). Another awkward moment: Donnie Wahlberg ripping his tank top off. But it was still all too good. I was screamin' like I was in 7th grade.

Say whaa?

This is a great blog post that all young women (heck, men too) who are thinking they want to get married some day should read. Happy Thursday!

I'M SOOO EXCITEDD

The past few days have been absolutely wonderful. I'll go into more later...but here's the highlight. I had one of the most amazing days of my life yesterday. I saw my first birth yesterday! One of my contact moms (guests at the home) had her baby and I was present for the birth. I like to think I kind of "helped" as I was holding one of her legs back. haha! I love my job (Here's link to another post from my Tumblr account briefly explaining things). More descriptions of this week's amazing-ness to come...

"Get down on your knees and tell me you love me"

A couple years ago I spent a little over a month nannying in Florida. I went to a parish (I'm kind of upset that I don't remember the name) where there were no kneelers. I assumed that the parishioners either stood or kneeled on the carpet at the Consecration. When it was time to kneel...everyone sat on the chairs, while myself and one older woman kneeled. It definitely was unsettling at the time.

In the blog Offerimus Tibi Dominus, the author quotes Pope Benedict in the Spirit of the Liturgy: "The man who learns to believe learns also to kneel, and a faith or a liturgy no longer familiar with kneeling would be sick at the core. Where it has been lost, kneeling must be rediscovered, so that, in our prayer, we remain in fellowship with the apostles and martyrs, in fellowship with the whole cosmos, indeed in union with
Jesus Christ Himself."

After reading that statement, I am sad and hope that in the two years since I visited, there has been some sort of reform/change in this particular parish. It is pretty convicting when one calls something "sick t its core" and particularly unnerving when referring to liturgy. Kneeling may not be particularly comfortable, at times, but it does put things in perspective. It is part of the experience and it allows one to be in the position of a state of penitence and reverance. As sinners, we are in no way deserving of God's mercy, however, He chooses to make us worthy through his grace and love. I think it is definitely a small price to pay to give God thanks and honor for who He is.

new blog.

I've been reflecting a lot on my life recently (okay, what 20-something young, single woman isn't? or any woman??), been journaling quite frequently, and am currently in the midst of what seems to be a few seemingly huge life-altering decisions. In the midst of that, I've been following quite a few blogs lately. So I've decided to give blogging a go again. It seems kind of intimidating, especially after following such poetic/funny/creative blogs...but in the fall of '09 I did my senior thesis on blogging. haha! Yes, it's true. I did lots of research on the history and the pioneers of the blogging industry.

I was a communication arts/theology major and decided to do a joint thesis on what blogging is and how it can help strengthen the Church's message of salvation. I look back sometimes and am like, "WHAA? How did that happen?" But it did...so I've been pretty triflin' not holding up my end of the bargain and actually pursuing it much myself. I do have one on Tumblr and Tumblr is fun, but Blogger seems more convenient and I follow a lot more blogs on there. In a later post, I'll list my favies.

Now, it's been over a year since I've graduated and I've near completed a great year of service with an amazing non-profit, called Maggie's Place, and organization that offers houses of hospitality for pregnant woman who are homeless. I've been through a lot and I want to document whatever the Lord has in store in a new format. More to come. =)

Edit:
I little info on the title...In college I was in a household (spiritual, Catholic sorority-like sisterhood), based on the spirituality of St. Therese. When we'd celebrate the Lord's Day, we'd pass around a cup of wine and say to the person sitting next to us, "May the Joy of Christ fill Your Heart". Therefore, I kind of borrowed it from that. I can't way I can teach someone how to "fill their heart with joy" or anything, but one could say it's kind of a documentation of how I try to seeks Christ's love and joy in everything I do.
